Not long now!

Not long until I leave now and the enormity of my decision to go on exchange has hit me. The closer it gets the more excited and the more nervous I get. I have under a month before I depart for France and a year of fun, excitement and challenges. I really can't wait!

I have my finalised flight itinery and i'm flying Malaysian Airlines so I fly through Kuala Lumpar. I'm not looking foward to the flight but it's something I have to do.

In other news my friends are throwing me a going away party, well more like a going away dinner actually. I was hoping to just slip away quietly with no fuss but that didn't happen. It makes me realise what good friends i'm leaving behind and how much i'll miss everyone back home!

Host Family

Well today i received an e-mail from my first host family in France. I will be staying with the Arnaud family for the first three months of my exchange. They have a 17 year old daughter, Manon and a 14 year old son named Aymeric. They also have a cat and a dog. I am so excited about my host family and they seem wonderful. They sent me photos and the area is beautiful. I am so much more excited about exchange now. It seems so much more real!

Oh and my host dad is a cook so i'm looking foward to all the awesome french food.

First Post

Well the title of this post really says it all...I decided to make this blog to keep track of the fun, interesting, exciting and new things I encounter on my exchange year in France. I also thought it would be useful for friends and family to stay in touch and updated with my activities.

So, a bit about me. My name is Melissa, i'm 18 years old and I will be going to France for a year with Rotary. At the moment I know I am staying in a small country town called Villefranche de Rouergue in the Aveyron region of the Midi-Pyrenees. I don't know my host family yet but I am quite excited waiting to find out.

So far I have had two Rotary orientations and the final orientation before exchange is in December. If plans don't change between now and when I leave my departure date is January 23, just over three months!!!
